Jacob Jolliff Band
This show is part of our 2024 Bluegrass & BBQ Concert Series!
An ensemble of virtuosic pickers, the Jacob Jolliff Band tours across the US with mandolinist and lead vocalist Jacob Jolliff at the helm. After cutting his teeth as a longtime member of Joy Kills Sorrow and later Yonder Mountain String Band, Jolliff has set off in a new direction. Featuring tight vocal harmonies and instrumental fireworks, the band’s latest self-titled album marks a major milestone in Jolliff’s evolution and the arrival of an authority on bluegrass mandolin.
The Billy Thompson Band

Accomplished guitarist and singer-songwriter, Billy Thompson creates a unique sound that blends blues, rock, funk, second line, and soul. Having performed alongside a plethora of music legends including the Doobie Brothers and Bill Payne of Little Feat, Billy Thompson has solidified himself as one of the greats in his genre.
Jerron “Blind Boy” Paxton
This show is part of our 2024 Jazz & Blues Concert Series!
An accomplished multi-instrumentalist, Jerron “Blind Boy” Paxton transforms traditional jazz, blues, folk, and country into the here and now. Mesmerizing audiences with humor and stories tied to the rich history of Black American music, Paxton recently signed with the Smithsonian Folkways label for his next, long-awaited full-length release, due out in 2024.
Clear Day Thunder Film Screening
Presented in partnership with the Oak Spring Garden Foundation, the 2023 film Clear Day Thunder: Rescuing the American Chestnut is a documentary about the grassroots efforts of passionate citizen scientists and researchers working to restore this ecologically and economically significant tree species.
Bryan Shepherd Band
Bryan Shepherd is a country crooner, known for singing original material alongside classic country hits. Introduced to country music at an early age, Shepherd’s grandfather encouraged him to take up the guitar and dobro and it wasn’t long before traditional country music fans took notice.
Winchester Jazz Collective Legacy Celebration
The Winchester Jazz Collective celebrates the legacies of Duke Ellington and Billy Strayhorn, whose artistic collaboration is widely regarded as one of the most important in the history of American music.

Celtic trio Ryan McKasson, Eric McDonald, and Jeremiah McLane set the standard for traditional repertoire with an underlying drive and pulse charged with rhythmic electricity, culminating in a swirling level of intensity. Critton Hollow String Band
Since 1975, the Critton Hollow String Band has brought traditional American music to international audiences. Combining the fiddle, hammer dulcimer, banjo, and guitar, the band tends a stable of songs from the first settlements of Appalachia to the best of contemporary American folk music. From the sizzling Addis Ababa (Ethiopia) nightlife scene, the international ensemble known as QWANQWA keeps audiences rapt in celebratory attention. Their live shows range from intimate to wild, shifting rapidly from whispery conversations to a full-blown rock show. It’s hard to believe these upbeat, psychedelic sounds are coming from traditional harps, one-string fiddle, and violin.
Shenandoah University Student Ensembles
Experience the vibrant energy of Shenandoah University's Jazz and Commercial Music program through a captivating musical performance featuring two student ensembles. The Carter Fensterstock Quintet will start with a tribute to trumpeter and composer Roy Hargrove, and the S.U. Studio Trio! will follow for a jazzy finish.
World Piano Day
FREE EVENT! Established by the German musician, Nils Frahm, Piano Day takes place on the 88th day of the year in reference to the 88 keys on a piano. To celebrate, local pianist Caleb Nei welcomes the community out for a free afternoon concert to experience his homage to this beloved instrument.

Robin and Linda Williams
Virginia-based folk duo, Robin and Linda Williams have been performing together for nearly five decades, amassing a repertoire of two dozen personal recordings. A Little Noon Music: Jon Rose Trio
FREE EVENT! This March, The Friends of the Handley Regional Library System will present the Jon Rose Trio at the Barns of Rose Hill. A classic jazz combo based in the Northern Shenandoah Valley, the trio plays familiar and wide-ranging bossa nova and bluesy jazz music for audiences of all ages.

Missy Raines & Allegheny
Grammy-nominated artist Raines is one of the most accomplished female bluegrass musicians on the scene today. Currently with her band Missy Raines & Allegheny on the release of their 2023 album, Highlander, the band is a significant nod and return to Raines’ bluegrass roots. The music is traditional and hard-driving at its core while also showcasing Raines’ well-known penchant for originality and innovation.
Studio Big Band
The Shenandoah Conservatory Studio Big Band presents an evening of gaming and computer music at the Barns of Rose Hill, conducted by Matt Niess and featuring arrangements from jazz saxophonist Mike Tomaro. Selections will include music from Wii Shop Channel, Dire Dire Docks, Rosalina in the Observatory, as well as jazz standards and originals.
Sara Curruchich
Sara Curruchich is the first indigenous Guatemalan singer and songwriter to sing in Kaqchikel (her mother tongue), as well as Spanish, for an international audience. Her music blends various genres such as rock, folk, and traditional Mayan Kaqchikel music. Regarded as a beacon of light and hope for women’s rights, Curruchich uses powerful lyrics and activism as a force for change.

FREE EVENT! Join us for a free screening of the powerful and moving film Till, which depicts the true story of Mamie Till-Mobley’s relentless pursuit of justice for her 14-year-old son, Emmett Till, who, in 1955, was lynched while visiting his cousins in Mississippi.

Dori Freeman
Singer-songwriter Dori Freeman has sharpened her vision of Appalachian Americana over five studio albums, funneling her Blue Ridge roots into a contemporary sound that's both broad and bold. Her latest album, “Do You Recall” is grounded in sharp songwriting, layered with electric guitar, organ, pedal steel, percussion, and vocal harmonies.
Bruce Molsky
Grammy-nominated artist Bruce Molsky delivers authentic and personal interpretations of rarities from the Southern Appalachian songbook and other musical traditions from around the globe. Best known for his work on the fiddle, Molsky’s banjo, guitar, and distinctive vocals resonate with listeners.
