About the Workshop: Have a story to tell and a love for comics? Learn how to bring your ideas to life on the page with bestselling graphic novelist Robin Ha!

In this hands-on workshop, Robin will guide participants through the creative process of making comics—from brainstorming story ideas and developing characters to planning page layouts and using visual storytelling techniques effectively. Whether you’re dreaming of becoming a comic artist or just curious about the medium, this class offers a fun and insightful introduction to the art of comics.

No experience is necessary, and all ages are welcome!

This class is presented alongside Franklin, a traveling exhibition from the Charles M. Schulz Museum and Research Center in Santa Rosa, California—on display at the Barns from June 7 through August 31. Exhibition Info » 

About the Instructor: Robin Ha (she/her) is the award-winning author/illustrator of the graphic novel memoir Almost American Girl. At fourteen, she moved to the United States from Seoul, Korea. Her comics and illustrations have appeared in various publications, including the Washington Post and the Los Angeles Times, as well as in anthologies highlighting Asian American culture, including Rise: A Pop History of Asian America from the Nineties to Now, New Frontiers: The Many Worlds of George Takei, and Shattered: The Asian American Comics Anthology (Secret Identities). She is also the author of the best-selling comic recipe book Cook Korean!: A Comic Book With Recipes. Her latest graphic novel, The Fox Maidens was published by Balzer and Bray in February 2024.  Robin is currently working on a graphic novel cookbook, Souped-up Ramyeon and Beyond, scheduled to be published in 2026 by Harvest.

Date & Time: Saturday, July 19, 2025. This 90-minute, interactive class begins at 3:00 PM.

Registration Fee: $15 for adults, and $5 for children ages 12 and under. Materials are included.
