Mid-Week Music: Karma Creak
This show is part of our Mid-Week Music Series, made possible in part by a grant from the Marion Park Lewis Foundation.
Karma Creak plays traditional bluegrass with drive and humor. With an emphasis on stark vocal harmonies and offbeat song choices, their songbook covers classics of the genre as well as contemporary hits, with room for some originals.
Special Consensus
This show is part of our 2026 Bluegrass & BBQ Series!
For more than four decades, The Special Consensus has been a bluegrass mainstay, earning two Grammy nominations and seven IBMA awards for its blend of traditional harmonies and contemporary style. Featuring Greg Cahill, Greg Blake, Dan Eubanks, and Brian McCarty, the band delivers dynamic performances rooted in bluegrass tradition while embracing fresh musical ideas.

The Dirty Grass Players
Baltimore's The Dirty Grass Players have been pushing the leading edge of bluegrass music since 2015. They find an intersection between progress and tradition that in one set could inspire Flatt & Scruggs to reunite and then break up all over again. Holiday Jazz with the Eric Byrd Trio
The Eric Byrd Trio returns with its beloved holiday interpretation of Vince Guaraldi’s A Charlie Brown Christmas, bringing the timeless soundtrack to life with swinging rhythms, playful melodies, and plenty of seasonal cheer.
Bruce Molsky
Grammy-nominated Bruce Molsky, described as “an absolute master” (No Depression), transports audiences with authentic interpretations of Southern Appalachian rarities and musical traditions from around the globe. A master of fiddle, banjo, and guitar, his distinctive vocals, technical virtuosity, and conversational wit create the warmth of an intimate front porch gathering.

Vienna: Then and Now

The Main Street Chamber Orchestra presents masterpieces from the two schools of Viennese composition: Mozart’s Eine kleine Nachtmusik and Arnold Schoenberg’s Chamber Symphony No. 1, for 15 Solo Instruments. The concert will open with Schatzwaltz ("Treasure Waltz") by the waltz king, Johann Strauss II.

Fuse Ensemble

Fuse Ensemble is a unique electroacoustic chamber ensemble that gives voice to new music composers and creates musical happenings with visual elements of live or interactive video, electronics, or kinetic installations. They collaborate with sculptors, visual artists, instrument makers, and poets to create a truly immersive and interactive concert experience. An accomplished multi-instrumentalist, Jerron “Blind Boy” Paxton transforms traditional jazz, blues, folk, and country into the here and now. Mesmerizing audiences with humor and stories tied to the rich history of Black American music, Paxton recently signed with the Smithsonian Folkways label for his next, long-awaited full-length release, due out in 2024.
