About: Accomplished guitarist and singer-songwriter, Billy Thompson creates a unique sound that blends blues, rock, funk, second line, and soul. Throughout his long career, Thompson has opened for a plethora of music legends from Earl King and Art Neville to Joe Cocker and George Thorogood.

Since 2022, Thompson has toured with Grammy-nominated, zydeco great CJ Chenier & the Red Hot Louisiana Band. His next release, due in 2024, is planned with Shenandoah University’s Director of Music Production & Recording Technology and bassist extraordinaire Golder O’Neill.

Among other venues, Thompson has performed on Barbara Walter’s The View, with the San Diego Symphony, and for the grand opening of L.A.’s House of Blues. Having guested with musical icons like Doobie Brothers and Bill Payne of Little Feat, Thompson was also featured on lead guitar for award-winning playwright Keith Glover’s Bluesical, “Thunder Knocking on the Door.”

Thompson’s original releases have received wide acclaim. His 2012 album, A Better Man, was nominated by Blues Blast Magazine for “Contemporary Blues Album of the Year,” and was featured as "Bluesbreaker of the Week" on Dan Aykroyd's Elwood's House of Blues Hour. His eighth release, BT, made the Top 25 on the Living Blues and Roots Music Report radio charts in 2018.
